Submission Guidelines

Hiking with Impunity LLC is interested in publishing the following types of articles:

• Reviews of gear, books, web sites, and software related to the field of hiking
• Essays about essential hiking skills, including but not limited to the following: camping, health and safety issues, navigation, etc
• Presentations of recent hikes
• Interviews 
• Photos of subject matter related to hiking or nature
• Hiking or nature-related short fiction or poetry 

Hiking with Impunity is looking to develop long-term relationships with regular collaborators who have previously been published on the web site and would be interested in writing articles on a regular basis. 

Articles should be a minimum of 500 words up to a maximum of 1500 words. For short fiction, the maximum number of words is 2500.

Author agrees to give one-time electronic publication rights and archive rights to Hiking with Impunity. All rights return to author upon publication on web site. Author agrees and understands that once published on website, their article will remain stored on website. Hiking with Impunity agrees to not publish article on another website or in a non-electronic form without express consent of author. While Hiking with Impunity may use social media outlets to promote the reading of published article, Hiking with Impunity will not publish said article in its entirety on these outlets.

All articles submitted to Hiking with Impunity will be reviewed by editorial team who may make requests for required edits to occur prior to publication of article.

All photos reviewed by Hiking with Impunity for publication should be submitted in JPEG, GIF, or TIFF formats. Photos must be owned by photographer in their entirety. Captions must accompany photographs. Model release forms must be submitted to Hiking with Impunity for any person or persons photographed and submitted. Photos will be stored in gallery, and Hiking with Impunity will give credit to photographer. Hiking with Impunity agrees not to publish photograph to any other site (including their Flickr site). Hiking with Impunity agrees not to photoshop or change the picture in any material way, other than sizing of picture on website.

Hiking with Impunity is not able to provide monetary compensation for unsolicited manuscripts at this time. Bylines can be provided to all authors at the bottom of their article. If author has 3 or more articles, or 5 or more photos published on website, Hiking with Impunity will list author in the "Contributors" section of their website along with a short bio and picture of author.
